Endometritis is an infection of the uterine lining that is usually a complication of a miscarriage, childbirth, or other gynecological procedure. Endometritis can be confused with pelvic inflammatory disease. ACLS is utilized if an arrest of the patient should occur. Endometritis is usually associated with a foul smelling vaginal discharge as well as a fever. If not treated in a timely manner endometritis can cause sepsis and or death. When the tissue is found outside of the uterus a disorder known as endometriosis. Endometriosis is usually associated with a females menstrual cycle. Some of the symptoms of endometriosis are cramping pelvic pain and abnormal uterine bleeding.

Medications and anti inflammatory drugs are some forms of treatment methods and in severe cases surgery is required.An ectopic pregnancy is when a fetus is implanted outside of the uterus. Symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy are severe abdominal pain that radiates to the shoulder on the side that is affected. Surgery is a must during an ectopic pregnancy, in order to prevent severe hemorrhaging. These are just some of the gynecological emergencies. There are many more out there. The bottom line with gynecological emergencies as is with any emergency is to get help fast.

There are many complications in the area of gynecology that are considered emergencies. Gynecology is anything having to do with diseases or disorders of the female reproductive system. Gynecological emergencies do not necessarily pertain to child birth but most certainly can. One of the most common gynecological emergencies that women have is abdominal pains. Some of the common causes for abdominal pains in women are pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ruptured ovarian cyst, cystitis, endometritis, endometriosis, and ectopic pregnancy.
